Energy Engineer - Entry Level

DNV GL – Energy’s Sustainable Use group is seeking an Energy Engineer – Entry Level to join our Program Development and Implementation team (PDI), currently helping commercial and industrial DTE’s customers save energy and money. This position is based out of our Detroit, MI office.

 

Tasks May Include

Work with business and building owners, developers, architects, engineers and contractors to provide energy efficiency advice and assistance in participating energy efficiency or energy conservation programs

Evaluate customer’s application, collect all required documentation and ensure that qualified measures installed at customer facilities

Evaluate customer saving calculations to assure accurate energy saving

Discuss technical elements of energy consuming equipment in a facility (lighting, HVAC, hot water systems, envelope, refrigeration, integrated design) and how it affects utility consumption and demand, to help build a business case to prioritize recommendations and how they affect savings and first cost

Support Junior and mid-level Engineers with technical guidance

Subject Matter Expert for both internal and external clients

Evaluate new technologies through relationships with manufacturers

Enter data into spreadsheets and databases to determine energy savings and to manage current projects, collaborate with other Energy Advisors/Energy Engineers as required to maximize technical support to the client base

Provide flexible support to other team members on an as-needed basis

 

Position Qualifications

What We're Seeking

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Technical Science(s), or similar four (4) year degree

One year of related work experience or internship in lieu of related work experience

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel)

Strong knowledge in technical and financial analysis

Must be able to conduct site inspections, site specific analysis and evaluations

Ability and willingness to work under tight deadlines

Must be able to perform energy analysis and simulations with support of experienced staff

Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% locally with domestic (US) travel occasionally

Strong written and verbal English communication skills

Routine bending, lifting, and reaching consistent with office work

We conduct pre-employment background checks and drug screenings

 

Preferred Skills

Background includes 3 years in energy or process related engineering

Certified Energy Manager

Ability to present technical matter to contractors/customers

Initiates and coordinates improvements to the work processes in place

Energy Audit experience

Provide strategic technical advice to company and clients
